A Malian father who reportedly lived in the United States for 25 years without a criminal record has allegedly been deported to Ghana following his detention by immigration agents in Texas.

According to a report by CDR Africa, the man was detained after completing a night shift as an Uber driver.

The report claims that he was subsequently deported to Ghana, despite an earlier US immigration court ruling that reportedly prevented his removal to Mali due to concerns about the risk of persecution.

CDR Africa further alleges that the man was deported without access to a lawyer or judge.

The circumstances surrounding his reported deportation, including the legal process followed and the reasons for his transfer to Ghana, remain unclear.

The case raises questions about the treatment of migrants, access to legal representation and the circumstances under which individuals may be transferred to third countries.
